The Social Media Manager is responsible for leading the Social Media department in representing West Edmonton Mall and Fantasyland Hotel through organic and paid social media channels, involving creating content, analyzing performance metrics and enhancing brand visibility and engagement.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Leading the Social Media team with development and implementation of social media strategies, ensuring alignment with overall marketing objectives and WEM brand messaging.
  • Providing mentorship to members of the Social Media team, setting clear goals and expectations for team members and providing coaching to support their professional development.
  • Planning and executing social media campaigns to reach target audiences and achieve marketing objectives, monitoring campaign performance, analyzing key metrics, and optimizing strategies.
  • Collaborating with team members to generate creative ideas and develop high-quality content for various social media platforms, empowering team members to take ownership of content creation and providing guidance to maintain brand consistency and messaging across social media channels.
  • Using the WEM voice and tone to monitor, respond and engage with Guests on all social media channels, text and chat messaging platforms.
  • Coordinating with influencers, partners, and ambassadors to amplify WEM brand reach and engagement.
  • Assisting in creating, monitoring, and optimizing digital advertising campaigns including Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and Google AdWords advertising.
  • Creating visuals for posts when needed including photography, image procurements and video livestreaming, etc.
  • Assisting in creating and sending email marketing campaigns using MailChimp and other CRM platforms.
  • Assisting in analyzing and reporting on key metrics using Google Analytics and other social media analytics platforms.
  • Other responsibilities as required.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or a related discipline to the role from a post-secondary education.
  • Proven experience as a Social Media Manager or equivalent role, with demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, etc. and using social media tools for business.
  • Experience in digital advertising platforms including Facebook and Instagram ads, Google AdWords ads is an asset.
  • Experience in digital analytics platforms including Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager is an asset.
  • Experience using email marketing platforms including MailChimp is an asset.
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills with the ability to work in an ever-evolving fast paced environment complemented by the personal capacity to think quickly and respond effectively under pressure.
  • Strong customer service and written communication skills.
  • Assertive with a “can do” attitude and able to work independently as well as be a team player.
Terms of Employment:
  • This is a full-time position that is required to work on-site in the WEM offices Monday through Friday 8:30am – 5pm, with the flexibility to be present at various events and activities as required.
  • This position qualifies for our 4-day workweek program.
  • This is a salaried position that will depend on experience and qualifications.
  • Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
