The Payroll Administrator is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of wage payments to all employees of West Edmonton Mall, Fantasyland Hotel and related sub company entities in compliance with statutory and company guidelines while providing support in processing payroll changes and responding to employee inquiries.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assisting in the preparation, processing, and administering of all aspects of in-house bi-weekly payrolls for West Edmonton Mall, Fantasyland Hotel & West Edmonton Mall Inn employees.
  • Providing payroll support, processing and guidance to sub-companies within the West Edmonton Mall’s business portfolio.
  • Reviewing, correcting and entering daily time and attendance records through Dayforce.
  • Entering new hire information both electronically, preparing employee electronic files and records, and calculating final payments and the preparation of ROE’s and submission to ROE Web.
  • Processing and reviewing time off requests and one-time transactions, such as: premium pay, incentives, and commission pay.
  • Completing requested employment verifications letters, coordinating employee service tracking and certificates and responding to various employee payroll requests and inquires.
  • Processing all required payroll adjustments including position and rate changes.
  • Compiling, maintaining and filing all essential payroll documents in a timely, consistent and well-organized manner.
  • Assisting with employee benefit enrollments and updates through our Sun Life benefits provider as well as providing assistance with employee benefit inquires.
  • Completing payroll reports on a pay period and monthly basis.
  • Assisting with various other payroll and HR related reports, paperwork and administrative processes.
  • Other responsibilities as required.
Desired Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of related office-based experience working with a recognized payroll application for a mid to large sized payroll.
  • Candidates should possess or be actively working towards their Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification.
  • Experience with both hourly and salary-based payroll processing and knowledgeable with all payroll related Alberta employment standards legislation.
  • Previous experience with in-house payroll processing, year-end processing and previous experience with Dayforce or another large-scale, reputable payroll program.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills with ability to interact with employees on a daily basis.
  • A high level of proficiency with MS Office programs including Outlook, Word and Excel with the ability to adapt to new software in the workplace.
  • Strong organizational, time management and multi-tasking abilities with a proven high level of efficiency and accuracy with the ability to work well under pressure.
Terms of Employment:
  • This is a full-time position required Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 5pm for 7.5 hours per day.
  • This position is eligible to participate in our 4-day work week program.
  • This is a salaried position that will depend on experience and qualifications.
  • This position will work on-site within the Human Resources office in West Edmonton Mall.
  • Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
