The Millwright Supervisor is responsible for taking a hands-on role in overseeing equipment and attraction installation, maintenance and repairs in the Galaxyland Amusement Park and other Parks and Attractions areas of West Edmonton Mall.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Overseeing and developing the process for conducting daily and routine inspections, repairs, shutdowns and safety checks on all rides, attractions, machinery and equipment of West Edmonton Mall’s Parks and Attractions.
  • Providing training and guidance to the Millwrights and ensuring all set processes, record keeping, and checklists are being completed as per set guidelines.
  • Performing staff selection interviews, performance reviews, performance management responsibilities and conducting staff mentorship on a regular basis.
  • Taking a hands-on role in troubleshooting and performing major and minor operational repairs and part replacements. This will include performing preventative maintenance services on a daily basis.
  • Responding to and completing related maintenance work orders from associated attraction departments and internal checklists on a timely basis by following West Edmonton Mall standard operating procedures.
  • Drafting, reading and interpreting plans, work orders and project specifications to determine efficient maintenance schedules.
  • Operating hoisting and lifting devices to assist with high angle assembly and maintenance in a safe manner.
  • Assisting in various other maintenance projects, tasks or responsibilities as required.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Applicants must have a valid Journeyman Millwright Trade Certification.
  • A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in an associated millwright-based position with strong practical mechanical skills.
  • Previous supervisory skills, experience and training is required for the role.
  • A dedication and knowledge of health and safety measures needed to perform each task is required.
  • Must be able to effectively coordinate, lead team members and ensure team project timelines are adhered to.
  • Must be able to work at heights, have strong attention to detail and exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • A high level of professionalism complemented by strong verbal and written communication skills and the capability to work with various trades people, contractors, technical personnel.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Excel and Outlook with the ability to easily learn new software programs.
  • Must be able to work with a variety of environmental factors, including noise and humidity, and must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Terms of Employment:
  • This is a full-time position Monday to Friday from 6am to 2:30pm with flexibility for project specific work.
  • Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
