The Marketing and Communications Specialist develops and executes marcom campaigns, manages media relations, and creates compelling content for web and a variety of platforms. They have a strong background in storytelling, content strategy, and campaign execution, with a keen ability to analyze and act on performance metrics.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive marcom strategies that lead to increase in brand awareness, sales, and traffic.
  • Track campaign performance, analyze key metrics, and recommend adjustments for continuous improvement.
  • Support marketing initiatives for Retail, Attractions and Events, ensuring alignment with overall brand strategy.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop promotional plans that drive engagement and conversions.
  • Maintain relationships with media to pitch stories and events.
  • Serve as West Edmonton Mall’s (WEM) and Fantasyland Hotel’s media liaison by coordinating interviews, media releases and crafting key messages for both internal and external audiences.
  • Write, edit, and proofread a variety of content, including website copy, blog posts, media materials, email campaigns, reports, and marketing collateral.
  • Adapt messaging for different audiences, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with brand voice.
  • Develop persuasive and engaging storytelling strategies that highlight key initiatives and events.
  • Optimize content for SEO and digital engagement, incorporating best practices for readability and accessibility.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Completion of a diploma or degree in journalism, public relations marketing, business, or a related discipline to the role from a post-secondary institution.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an equivalent Marketing and Communications position in a related industry.
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills with the ability to work in an ever-evolving fast paced environment, complemented by strong interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office program such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience working with Umbraco or similar CMS platforms considered an asset.
Terms of Employment:
  • This is a full-time position that generally works Monday through Friday but is required to have professional flexibility for specific on-site and accessible for special projects, events, or special situations.
  • This is a salaried position that will depend on experience and qualifications.
  • Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
