Electrician

The Electrician is responsible for performing electrical maintenance, installations and repairs on all the rides, lighting, building electrical at West Edmonton Mall parks and attractions.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Reading and following all policies relating to the mall and parks.
• Performing scheduled maintenance to the rides and equipment to keep them operating safe and efficient with minimum downtown.
• Being familiar with the equipment in Galaxyland, World Waterpark DSD and Aquariums (Pump Motor Controls etc.)
• Learning the procedures for operating each one, learn how to read and interpret the Electrical/Electronic schematics and be able to understand the fault codes on certain PLC’s.
• Learning to troubleshoot ride controls to prevent shutdowns and ensure safety.
• Ability to interpret and monitor Fault codes on PLC’s to aid in the repair of equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret the technical documentation available for the equipment/rides.
• Carrying out new installations as required by and to Provincial Electrical Code.
• Operation of man lifts, work at heights and in crawl spaces when required.
• Tying into fire alarm systems when new install required and replacing broken items connected to fire alarm.
• Regular monitoring and replacement of burnt out overhead lights in all Park areas.
• Inspecting rides when on regular annual shutdown where trained and filling out related paperwork.
• Carrying out in-house electrical repairs on all parks electrical items (drills, welding machines, making extension cables, adaptor cables etc.)
• Other responsibilities as required.

Desired Qualifications:

• A certified Journeyman Electrician with a valid Alberta provincial ticket.
• Previous Electronic, PLC and Controls experience is an asset.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills plus; the ability to work efficiently, either independently or with other mall personnel / trades; comprises strong attention to detail and great problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Terms of Employment:

• This is a full time position that is required Monday through Friday, 06:00 – 14:30 as well as being available as required on a rotational schedule for after-hours; electrician on-call service / response.
• This position requires lifting and transporting of various items ranging in weight, as well as working in various environments around the mall (ie. hot, humid, and noisy environments) and at various heights.
• Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
