The Junior Accounting Clerk prepares the hotel’s daily bank deposits, controls all house funds, issues, audits and maintains all hotel banks according to the Fantasyland Hotel and WEM Inn’s policies and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Reconciling daily Cash submissions from various departments in the hotel and consolidating the bank deposits daily in a timely manner.
  • Preparing and issuing due-backs and kitchen tips to the hotel cashiers and kitchen staff as required and securing all due backs that are not yet issued.
  • Preparing and maintaining over/short reports by cashiers daily.
  • Counting and documenting hotel floats on a regular basis according to established Company guidelines, on an impromptu basis, in the presence of the float holder as required by the Company policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining house bank agreements in the accounting office. Issuing cashier safety deposits for bank safekeeping, as required.
  • Preparing and maintaining contracts and logging on all issued house banks.
  • Making petty cash disbursements according to established guidelines.
  • Strictly adhering to the hotel’s procedures for cash handling, cheque cashing and petty disbursements.
  • Controlling and maintaining gift cards, gift certificates and passes.
  • Ensuring that current exchange rates posted are correct and all foreign currencies and cheques are deposited on a timely basis.
  • Counting and documenting the General Cashier float at the end of each shift.
  • Preparing a monthly summary of float counts and reporting all cash discrepancies to appropriate managers.
  • Ensuring that all employees that handle cash have adequate change throughout their work shifts.
  • Preparing daily duty meal and promotion summaries in Excel and following up on missing promotion bills.
  • Ordering supplies for the cash room.
  • Organizing daily promotion and audit bundles and filing accordingly.
  • Counting and reconciling VLT cash and making deposits to the bank.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Controller and Assistant Controller.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in a similar, fast-paced office environment, preferably in an accounting department within the hospitality industry.
  • A team player with strong organizational skills that is a self-starter and able to work independently.
  • Strong phone, written communication and direct interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Outlook, Excel and Word with the ability to adapt to other software programs as required.
Terms of Employment:
  • This is a full-time position that is required Monday through Friday.
  • This is a salaried position that will be paid an equivalent to an hourly rate of $18.00 per hour.
  • Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
