The Maintenance Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing Fantasyland and West Edmonton Mall Inn . The Chief Engineer leads the maintenance team to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the hotel’s physical infrastructure. This includes heating ventilation, air conditioning systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and building structures. The Chief Engineer ensures compliance with health and safety regulations and works to maintain the hotel at optimum performance levels.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Overseeing and performing repairs on the various appliances and equipment in Fantasyland Hotel, such as guestrooms repairs, kitchen appliances, restaurant and bar appliances, and laundry equipment.
  • Ensuring all the maintenance checks is completed and any irregularities were recorded and translated.
  • Overseeing and performing plumbing, A/C, and electrical maintenance when needed. Coordinating with internal and external trade partners to complete the high-level tasks.
  • Working with the trades departments for West Edmonton Mall and seeking their help when needed.
  • Scheduling, training, motivating and developing the maintenance team. Providing ongoing coaching, feedback and conducting employee reviews.
  • Maintaining a work order assignment program for completed and pending work orders. Prioritizing and completing work orders in a timely manner and monitoring all deficiencies. Communicating with the requesting party upon completion when needed.
  • Working with Human Resources to ensure all hiring, training, and discipline needs are being met, adhering to federal, provincial and local standards.
  • Preparing and executing the operating and capital budget.
  • Representative of the Hotel Safety committee to keep up the safety standard requirement of the facility, obtain required licenses and permits to ensure full compliance with codes, regulations and safety standards
  • Developing and ensuring the fulfilment of preventative maintenance program specific to the hotel operations requirement.
  • Leading, managing, and communicating information about capital projects and property rehabilitations, including, but not limited to, scheduling, budgeting, and complying with contractor bidding standard.
  • Maintaining a flexible schedule to meet the hotel business needs.
  • Other responsibilities as required.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in similar role, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing systems.
  • Completion of post-secondary education in a related trade is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead a team.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs., as well as the ability to work at heights when required.
  • Must be familiar with CMMS

  • This is a full-time position with flexible hours, including weekend and holidays.
  • This is a salaried position that will depend on experience and qualifications.
  • Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
